Last USAC vs NCRA races in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City, July 21, 1986 USAC vs NCRA Champ Dirt Car race.  Shane Carson in the Gambler Competition Center #76s owned by legendary local race car owner, Pat Suchy, passing USAC super star Rich Vogler in the #39 Coors Light Silver Bullet for the win.  This was the final USAC vs NCRA challenge race held in Oklahoma City.

The Rio Airways sprinter

Shane in Richard Tharp's  Rio Airway's WoO sprinter. The photo on the left is Shane during a time trial run at Oklahoma City, the photo on the right he is pulling out for a heat race.  The car featured a J&J chassis.

This is the same Richard Tharp who was a successful Top Fuel dragster driver in the 70s.   There has been a feature about his drag racing in recent months on Speedvision.
